Colourful abstract watercolour painting with red, gold, and blue tones on a light blue background

The Saloon Royal Pavilion Brighton

£800.00

W 680mm x H 530mm watercolour on 300gsm Fabriano Artistico paper, unframed.

The Saloon is one of the most impressive rooms within the Royal Pavilion Brighton.

The room has undergone a full restoration, including the walls, carpet and drapes. An outstanding feature is the decorative red vermillion and golden yellow designs, from the redesign in 1802. The painting shows the ceiling, drape designs and a scene through the space. The south facing aspect of the building produces lots of light during the day. Watercolour at this time was used as a medium to mock up designs and reimagining of these lavish spaces.

*The first image shows what the painting would look like framed in a manilla mount and a light beech frame. The painting is supplied unframed.
