Colorful abstract watercolor pattern on a white background

The Long Gallery Royal Pavilion Brighton

£800.00

W 670mm x H 520mm watercolour on 300gsm Fabriano Artistico paper, unframed.

The painting shows three views of the Long Gallery in section. Original pigments have been used in this and the other paintings to recreate a sense of the colours used throughout.

The lower section uses a Nash painting of the staircase from 1826. Originally, the hallway contained a green central carpet, with a pink red central carpet channel. The wall designs depict bamboo, with a pink background colour, which is illuminated from the top skylight.

This painting uses Rose Madder, common to Turners paintings of the same period, as well as cobalt green and Indian yellow.

*The first image shows what the painting would look like framed in a manilla mount and a light beech frame. The painting is supplied unframed.
