Colorful abstract watercolor pattern on a white background

Music Room & Banqueting Room Royal Pavilion Brighton

£800.00
W 670mm x H 530mm watercolour on 300gsm Fabriano Artistico paper, unframed.

This new watercolour painting reimagines the Royal Pavilion Brighton as three horizontal bands, each an abstracted impression of one of its iconic interiors.

The upper band evokes the opulence of the Music Room, the middle reflects the rich spectacle of the Banqueting Room, and the lower band suggests the character of the First Floor, as you ascend the stairs.

Across all three sections, colour becomes the unifying language - an echo of Prince George’s vivid tastes and the period’s fascination with Chinoiserie. Rather than depicting historical details literally, the painting translates these influences into layered colour fields and stylised motifs, capturing the spirit of this decorative tradition and its imaginative, European reinterpretation of Chinese and Japanese design.

*The first image shows what the painting would look like framed in a manilla mount and a light beech frame. The painting is supplied unframed.
