W 670mm x H 500mm watercolour on 300gsm Fabriano Artistico paper, unframed.
The painting is a loose reworking of a painting by Augustus Pugin from around 1820. This was known as the Yellow Drawing Room at the time, with bright sunlight coming through the large south facing windows during the day.
The colour from the room has been pulled down into a stripe painting at the bottom, indicating the high key nature and contrasts throughout the space. Some of the main colours used in the room and the painting are vermillion, Naples yellow, cobalt, lapis lazuli and gold ochre. The shadow across the room uses an original sepia.
*The first image shows what the painting would look like framed in a manilla mount and a light beech frame. The painting is supplied unframed.
